Every property has its own character. The challenge with property photography is to capture that character while showing the space honestly, attractively and in a way that makes potential buyers or guests want to see more.
My recent property photography North Coast work has taken me from Umhlanga through to Salt Rock, photographing a variety of homes and interiors. Each property presented something different, from coastal views and contemporary living spaces to carefully finished kitchens and bathrooms.
Capturing a Property in Its Best Light
Good property photography is about much more than simply pointing a camera at a room.
Light, composition, perspective and colour all play an important role in creating images that feel inviting while remaining true to the property itself. I take particular care with vertical lines and perspective, as well as balancing interior and exterior light so that windows, rooms and views work together naturally.
Photographing the Details That Matter
Interiors can tell just as much of a property’s story as its exterior.
A beautifully finished bathroom, a well-designed kitchen or an inviting dining space can all be important selling points. My aim is to photograph these areas in a way that shows both their design and their relationship to the surrounding space.
Rather than relying on heavy processing or artificial-looking colours, I prefer a clean, realistic finish that allows the property itself to remain the focus.
Living Spaces and the Coastal Lifestyle
Living areas are often where a property’s personality really comes throug
Good composition can show the relationship between furniture, architecture and available space, while natural light helps create an image that feels bright and comfortable.
On the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, there is also the added attraction of the coastline. A living area with a view towards the sea isn’t simply another interior photograph — the view becomes part of the property’s story.
That connection between the interior and the landscape is something I always look for when photographing coastal properties.
Property Photography from Umhlanga to Salt Rock
The North Coast has a distinctive character, but no two properties are the same. From apartments and contemporary homes in Umhlanga to properties further north towards Ballito and Salt Rock, each location and each home requires a slightly different photographic approach.
My goal is always the same: to create clean, crisp and inviting images that represent the property accurately while showing it at its best.
Professional property photography can make a significant difference to how a property is presented online. When potential buyers or clients are scrolling through listings, strong photography gives them a reason to stop, look closer and explore further.
Looking for Property Photography?
Whether you are a property agent, developer, interior designer or private property owner, professional photography can help present your property clearly and professionally.
If you have a property on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast that needs photographing, I’d be happy to discuss your requirements and put together a photography package to suit the property.
The Art of Making Food and Beverages Look Irresistable
Based in Durban, my food and beverage photography focuses on creating clean, appealing images that showcase food and beverages at their best.
For this collection of Food and Beverage Photography, I wanted to showcase the variety that I can offer, from colourful cocktails and indulgent milkshakes to burgers, pizzas and a beautifully presented breakfast.
Beverages
Colour, texture and presentation
Food and Beverage Phtography is about creating images that make the viewer want to experience what they’re seeing. With drinks, colour, textur, glassware and presentation all become part of the composition.
From vibrant cocktails to indulgent milkshakes, eac imae presents a different visual challenge. My approach is to keep the photography clean and inviting, allowing the subject itself to remain the focus
From The Glass to the Plate
The same principles apply when photographing food.
Composition, lighting and presentation all work together to create an image that feels fresh, appetising and authentic.
Whether it’s the textures of a well-prepared burger, the irresistable simplicity of a pizza or the colour and freshness of a breakfast beautifully presented, the photograph needs to communicate the experience of the food, without taking away from what is naturally there.
Photography That Makes People Hungry
Good food and beverage photography should do more than show the customer what is being served. It should create a sense of anticipation and make the viewer want to take that first bite—or place that order.
Whether photographing a restaurant menu, a new dish, a cocktail, a product launch or content for social media, my aim is always the same: to create clean, appealing images that showcase the food at its best while keeping the photography true to the experience.
After all, if the photograph makes you hungry, it’s doing its job.

I recently had the pleasure of capturing a full suite of professional photographs and video content for Glen Eden Lodge, a charming guest house situated in the picturesque Caversham area of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. As a specialist in Guest House Photography in Durban and across KZN, projects like this allow me to highlight the unique character, comfort, and hospitality that establishments offer to their guests.
Our shoot began with detailed interior and exterior photography, showcasing the lodge’s welcoming spaces, natural surroundings, and tranquil atmosphere. I captured a variety of images throughout the day, including sunset and dusk shots, which are essential for presenting a property’s ambience in different lighting conditions. These visual elements play a crucial role in helping guest houses across Durban and KZN stand out online and attract new visitors.
The following day, I worked closely with Chef Mark to style and photograph several signature dishes from the Glen Eden Lodge menu. Food photography forms an important part of hospitality and guest house marketing, and Chef Mark’s beautifully prepared dishes made the process both enjoyable and rewarding. One of the highlights of these shoots is always being able to sample the culinary creations afterwards—a delicious bonus to an already fulfilling project!
Professional Guest House Photography in Durban and the greater KZN region is essential for showcasing the true essence of a property. High-quality images allow potential guests to visualise their stay and connect with the experience even before they arrive. Glen Eden Lodge was a fantastic location to work with, and I am excited to see how these visuals will elevate their online presence.
